Home at Last

So I got to spend the last week playing mom to Jon's little sisters while his mom was at girls camp. They are 7 and 10 so I wasn't really worried about doing it and in the end, the week was better than I could have hoped. Okay, so it was great. I had a dishwasher!!! I haven't used a dishwasher since we got married. I forgot how nice they are. I also had a washer and dryer that were in the house and that I didn't have to pay for. Wow, what a luxury! I also had built in 24 hour entertainment for Emma. She loves playing with her aunts and they are so good with her. So, it was a good week but it's nice to be back home....for another week and a half. We have to be out of our apartment by the 17th and Jon's internship ends the 24th so we're going to stay with his parents for a week. So, I need to force myself to start packing and cleaning so I don't have to do it all last minute. Ahh...the joys of moving. We are sad to leave California but are excited for the next year...our last year in Provo!!! We love Provo and the friends we've made there. It has become home but we are ready to move on, and Jon is ready to be done with school.
Before we head back to Provo Jon and I are going to take a vacation alone! Since I babysat for Jon's mom while she was at camp, she is going to watch Emma while we go to Tijuana and Southern California for 5 days. We are going to Tijuana for 2 days to visit Jon's mission, then we'll spend a day in San Diego. We're going to go to the temple and then the zoo. The next day we're going to go to Disneyland. We got free tickets courtesy of Pixar! It is going to be a packed trip. I am so excited and am trying not to worry about leaving Emma for that long. We have never left her for more than 3 or 4 hours so this is pretty big. But I know they will take good care of her and it will be fine.
Anyway, here are some pictures from the last few weeks...

My first attempt at cutting Jon's hair. I was tired of paying for haircuts and figured how hard could it be? The answer...harder than it looks, at least for me. Jon was scared but in the end it turned out good.

I found Emma leaning up against the bed like this. It was so funny. She just stood there drinking her bottle for quite awhile.

Ahh...the joys of Kleenex. Unfortunately this activity only provides a few minutes of entertainment and it is impossible to get all the tissue back in the box.

Emma discovered swings this week and LOVES them. She will sit there swinging and laughing forever. It is great. If only Wymount had swings.

I took Jon's sisters and Emma to have lunch with Jon at Pixar. We FINALLY got our pictures with Sully and Mike. We also played pool, ping pong, and air hockey while we were there. It was a blast!

Kiddie Kandids

We took Emma to get her birthday pictures at Kiddie Kandids. We had some store credit and we got a free 8x10 since it was her birthday. So, it was a great deal and their pictures always turn out so cute. If anyone wants, I have 3 referral coupons to get a free Perfect Treasures picture. You can see samples on their website.

Jumping on the Bed

So I've never tried putting a video on before. I hope this works. Emma was sitting on an air mattress and Jon's sister would jump on it to bounce her in the air. It was really funny. Just hit the play button and enjoy!

A Little Update

There hasn't been much going on here lately...just the usual day to day stuff. We spent the last week in Boise with Jon's family and had fun seeing them. We also visited my grandma Hiatt while we were there. Jon is keeping busy at work. I am keeping busy with Emma. She has SO much personality and is really starting to test boundaries. She is starting to do that thing where she's doing something she knows she's not supposed to and as soon as I say her name and start coming toward her she starts to do it faster and then at the last possible second runs away. Jon and I used to laugh when little kids do that. Okay, so we still do. And it is kind of funny to see her do it. It's just hard to believe she's not a little baby anymore. She is doing so many things and you can tell that she's soaking everything up, trying to learn everything. She loves talking and will talk to everybody and anybody she sees. She especially loves when Dad comes home every day. We wait for him outside and as soon as she sees the car pull up she starts yelling Hi Dad! Dada! and lots of other uncomprehendable things. Here is our budding artist drawing with dad on the porch. We really have to watch her with the sidewalk chalk because she likes to bite chunks off and eat them like candy. Yuck!

Emma and Grandma Lorraine (great grandma Hiatt). We spent an afternoon with her while we were in Boise. It was good to visit.

Jon swinging with his sister Melinda at his grandparents 50th anniversary party. They had a 50's theme and went all out with the decorations, music, and dress. It was a lot of fun.

One of Emma's favorite hangouts...the bathroom sink. I know it's weird.
Notice also the pigtails. They turned out adorable. If only I could get her to keep them in.

Happy Birthday Emma

Emma turns 1 tomorrow so we had a little party yesterday for her. We just had Jon's family and one of his good friends over for cake, ice cream and swimming. Emma had no idea what was going on and was probably a little overwhelmed but it was fun for the rest of us. I will try to add some more pictures. Jon's mom got some really cute ones.
We are going to Boise for the 4th of July week for Jon's family reunion. I will drive up with his family on Tuesday and he will fly up on Friday after work. There are lots of cousins and lots of things to do so it should be fun. I'm also going to be able to see some of my family while we're there too.
Jon finished his training at Pixar and has gotten his assignment for the rest of the summer. He is working on a movie called Wall-E. It's a movie about a robot and that's about all I know. It comes out next summer so if you go to see it watch for his name in the credits! He is having a lot of fun there. They encourage them to be creative and decorate their offices so he has been finding all sorts of random stuff to make it look cool. We'll have to get some pictures soon.

Emma and her new spray bottle. She gets the biggest kick out of us squirting water into her mouth.

Emma's birthday fan club...Jon's sisters Michelle, Jenny, and Melinda.

"I'll take that candle, thank you."
I made this cake with lots of help from Jon's mom. She does some amazing cakes
so it was fun to start learning.

Just getting started on her cake. Emma was a little overwhelmed with the cake. We put it on her tray and she just sat there staring at it. The one time we actually want her to get messy she won't. After a while though she slowly started digging in.

Stuff

I feel like it's been such a busy month but then I can't remember anything we've done! We have really enjoyed these last few weeks that Jon hasn't had work or school and have been able to spend so much time together. If only life could always be like that. Jon started his internship with Pixar yesterday. It sounds like it will be a great experience. He is so excited. He will spend this week in training and then get his assignment. They will put him to work on one of their movies. Wow! That would be intimidating to me. But he'll do great. They are a great company to work for...very fun and laid back. One of Jon's friends that works there gave us a tour last week. There were people riding razor scooters all over and several cereal bars throughout the studio. There is also a swimming pool, basketball court, soccer field, gym, running trail, and other things for the employees to use if they need a break during the day. So cool! We get to see Ratatouille at the Pixar theater this weekend. They gave Jon 5 tickets and his friend gave him a couple more so Jon's family can come with us. It should be so fun. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

Jon's parents let Emma borrow this playhouse. She LOVES it. The phone and doorbell make noise so she thinks that's pretty great.

Emma has cut 3 teeth in the last 3 weeks. She got her top teeth first and then cut a bottom. She has done pretty well with it. She is such a happy, social baby. We are excited for her birthday in a couple weeks. Anyone have any fun party ideas?

Emma got into the sidewalk chalk and drew all over her nose.

She definitely got more on her than in her! Yuck!

We had been in a heatwave all last week and the temperature was over 100 degrees every day. So, we planned a trip to the beach on Saturday. But of course that was the one day that it was 50 degrees. Me and Jon's family sat on the beach huddled in blankets but Jon wasn't going to let a little cold weather stop him. He jumped right in to look for sea shells and managed to find several sand dollars. He was excited.
