This was a really great week. Again, Fast Sunday definitely helps with weight loss. :) I was also able to pull myself out of my slump and find my motivation again. I feel like I have been able to find my new normal with eating and exercising. It's been interesting to see the effect it's had on the kids too. At first it was hard to convince them to get in the stroller so I could go walking first thing in the morning. They really just wanted to stay and play at home. But now, most mornings Emma asks when we're going to go and she looks forward to our walks. She also talks about exercise more. She'll do some stretches and then say something about how important it is to get exercise every day. It's really cute.
I'm feeling REALLY good and looking forward to meeting my goal...hopefully next week!
This week's loss- 2.8 lbs
Total loss- 23.6 lbs
ONLY 1.4 LBS TO GO!!!

Painting Rocks and Playing in Water
The rain has finally ended and the sun has made an appearance. We really enjoyed getting outside this week.
Yesterday we went walking in the morning and found some good rocks to paint. In the afternoon I let the kids go at it, and they did. They started painting rocks
But they had a blast doing it and clean up was easy....I just sprayed them down with the hose.
Today Emma was cutting something...so of course Matthew had to also. He is actually pretty good at it and he knows to only cut the paper. His method was funny though. He would make one little cut and then tear the paper the rest of the way. When he finished he would look up and yell, "I cut it Mommy!".

This afternoon it was HOT. I took our trampoline outside and made a makeshift sprinkler under it. The kids loved it, but Emma kept telling me that we needed to get a bigger trampoline like Grandma has.

Preschool Fun
When we moved in February, we were blessed to get Emma into a really great preschool here. The teachers are all volunteers and are so great with the kids. And all the kids get along really well too. They are such a cute little group of kids. We have LOVED having Emma in preschool, and she has loved it too. But the inevitable is upon us...preschool ends next week. I don't know what I'm going to do this summer!
Anyway, since it was the end of the year, there were some fun things planned. On Thursday the class went on a field trip to a nearby park. They all wore these cute red bandannas around their necks and walked with a buddy to the park and back. The highlight for Emma was watching the fish in the pond there.

Afterwards we met at one of her classmate's homes to have a good bye/thank you party for the teachers. There was lots of yummy food and the kids played hard. It was a really hot day though and it was nap time so by the time they took pictures Emma was losing it...crying and screaming that she didn't want her picture taken. It was awesome...
The teachers L to R: Cathy, Renee, Tish, and Garnet (the guy in the back is one of the pastors at the preschool church...and I hadn't ever seen him before this.)
When we got home Emma insisted that she wasn't tired and didn't need a nap. After a few minutes of her protesting it got really quiet. This is what I found in the hall...

I snapped this picture of them walking back...just thought they looked so cute!

Big Sur
For Memorial Day weekend we went camping at Big Sur, just south of Monterey. Jon's parents ward goes every year so there is always a large group of friends there. This was our second time going with them. Jon was REALLY looking forward to it- a break from work, a chance to get outdoors, everything. I was trying to be excited about it. I'm not a huge fan of camping, especially with little kids, but it really did end up being a lot of fun.

We got there, and with Steve and Debbie's help, got set up in no time. In the afternoon a huge group from the ward went on a hike. Here we are at the top.

On Sunday we had a testimony meeting with everybody that stayed. The spirit was really strong. It was a great way to spend our Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoon we went on a walk to see the swimming hole...and the kids ended up swimming...in their clothes.

We really had a great time...though I don't know that I'm brave enough to try camping without all the extra eyes and hands. :) Thank you Steve and Debbie for letting us tag along!
All packed and on the road.

Mittens
Matthew has this funny obsession with mittens. He hates gloves, but if he sees a mitten it goes straight on his hand. The funny thing is that he usually only finds one mitten at a time (and I have no idea where he finds these mittens), so he walks around all day with one white mitten on. We call it his Michael Jackson look.
This time around he actually found both (newborn sized) mittens. This kid cracks me up!

Weigh in Week 12
This was a bummer of a week. At the same time, I'm not surprised by the numbers. I actually did really good the first half of the week. I stayed on track and was down about 1/2 a pound. Then we went camping. And camping means lots of food- mostly snack food. And we can't forget the s'mores. Because you just can't go camping and not eat s'mores. So, I splurged a lot this weekend and now I'm paying for it. I did try to balance my eating with some exercise. I went on a couple bike rides and a couple of hikes while we were there.
I'm trying not to be too hard on myself this week. I have done really good for the last 12 weeks. I have made lifestyle changes that I never thought I would be able to make. I need to remember that life happens and it's okay to splurge every once in awhile...as long as it's just that- a splurge. I actually see it as a huge success to be able to splurge majorly, and then to go back to a healthier lifestyle. I don't know if this is making any sense...but to me it means that I don't NEED sweets like I used to. I can eat them and enjoy them occasionally, but then I can move on. And that's a good thing.
So, the numbers this week-
This week's gain(ugh!)- .4 lbs
Total loss- 20.8 lbs
4.2 lbs to go! (And it won't be by next week like I had hoped...)
