A Little Plug for Jon

Jon has made his career debut! He worked on Wall-E when he interned at Pixar last summer and his name is in the credits. So, go see it! His name is under Set Shading Intern. It was a really cute movie, fun for the whole family. If you have seen it or do see it and want to know what he did, let us know and we'll tell you. I would put it here but it wouldn't make sense if you haven't seen it.

Also, everybody should go see Kung Fu Panda. It was a very funny, very cute movie...and our Christmas bonus depends on how much money it brings in. :)

We are so proud of Jon and all of the hard work he does. It is so fun to be able to see and really enjoy what he does.

My Kind of Camping

For family night on Monday we went camping. Now this really is my kind of camping. Set the tent up on the carpet, pile the blankets and pillows in, grab some microwave popcorn, and put a movie on. It was great.

The real reason we got the tent out...we got this tent for our wedding almost 3 years ago. We have NEVER used it outside. Every once in awhile we bring it out and set it up in the living room so that it gets some use. And then we sit and talk about how we really need to go camping. We have planned out so many camping trips that have just never happened. Maybe this will be the summer???

Here are a few pictures from when we went to the airport to see Jon's brother who was coming back from his mission. It was fun to see him and have everyone together again.

Little sister Jenny was so excited to hug Jason that she ran past the security point and set off the buzzers. The airport lady pushed her away and Jon clicked at just the right moment. It was so funny.

A trip to Wisconsin wouldn't be complete without a bunch of cheese-y souvenirs. In addition to these two cheese hats they came home with a cheese tie and cheese earrings.

Fathers Day Weekend

This last weekend was really great. We had beautiful weather and were able to enjoy lots of family time. And, what better way to end the weekend then by celebrating Fathers Day?

Friday we picked Jon up from work and did a little shopping. We finally got a dvd player (I know, we're moving on up in the world) and a potty seat for Emma. I don't think she'll be potty trained any time really soon. I just want to have her start practicing sitting on the seat. She loves her little toilet though, so we've taken a small step in the right direction.

We also bought Emma a bike for her birthday. We got the Radio Flyer Fold 2 Go because it was the only one really small enough that she almost fits it. AND it was $20 off. So we got a sweet deal. She loved it and wouldn't get off it while we were at the store. She even tried to ride it out of the store. Now the challenge is going to be keeping it hidden for the next 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure she's forgotten about it by now, I just don't know if I can wait that long to give it to her.

Anyway, after our shopping trip we came home and watched Meet the Robinsons. If you haven't seen it yet, SEE IT. Totally cute movie for everyone. We all loved it.

Saturday Jon went to the temple in the morning. It's been a while since either of us have gotten to go, so I'm glad he was able to go. Saturday night we went to the park so Emma could run off some of her energy. She spent the entire time in the sandbox, which really should be called the mud pit. She had a great time and got a good bath when we got home.

Sunday the kids slept in till 8:00! We have church at 9 so we had to get up anyway, but it was nice to be able to get completely ready before they were up. AND, we made it to church on time.

I also got a calling yesterday. I am the Achievement Day leader with one other lady. This was the calling I had in our last ward so I'm kind of familiar with it. I'm excited to be doing something calling-wise again and excited for this calling.

After church I gave Jon his father's day present. I put together a slideshow of pictures of him and the kids and family pictures. I've posted it on the side of my blog if anyone wants to see it. Fathers day dinner was steak and baked potatoes. The highlight of the meal for Jon was the A-1. :) For dessert we made chocolate covered strawberries and cherries. YUM!
After dinner I cut Jon's hair and then he and Emma went swimming in the shower- one of Emma's new favorite summertime activities. He's such a good dad.

Jon's brother comes home from his mission in Wisconsin today. We are so excited to see him. He left a few weeks before Emma was born so this will be his first time meeting either of the kids. Anyway, we're going to the airport tonight to see him. Fun times! He is such a funny guy and I think Emma is going to love him.

It was really hot Friday and by the time dinner had cooked the kitchen was way too hot to be in, so we had a little picnic dinner in the living room.

This is Emma's hair dried and done with her new haircut. I think it turned out really cute and her hair is so much more managable now. I love it.

A Haircut

I decided yesterday it was time to give Emma her first haircut. It's always in the way and she tends to get a lot of food in it. It's pretty gross. So we stuck her in front of a movie (yes, she watches movies on the computer. We're hopefully getting a dvd player this week), put on the cape, and put the scissors to work. I was pretty scared because hair cutting is NOT my thing. I do an okay job on Jon's hair, but I get to use clippers with him. I am horrible at cutting straight, so hopefully all the imperfections in her haircut won't be too noticable. It was a little sad to see the hair go but I'm glad it's done.

Today was a good day. It was supposed to be hot, so I decided we'd get out and do something outside in the morning before it got too bad. We walked the mile to the library only to find out that it didn't open for another 45 minutes. Bummer! So, we walked to the park, which was on the way home, and stayed for awhile before heading home.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. We all took naps and then played inside the rest of the day. Tonight I think we're going to watch Dan in Real Life. I've seen it and liked it, but Jon's never seen it. I'm curious to see what he thinks. He watches movies so differently than me, so I never know.

Anyway, it's time to start getting Emma in bed so I'm going to go now.

Bath Time and Other Fun Stuff

So it finally happened...after 3 LONG weeks, Matthew's umbilical cord FINALLY fell off. I don't know what it is about the cord that I just can't stand. Maybe it's how nasty it looked. Or the fact that he could only have sponge baths until it came off. I just felt like I could never really get him clean without putting him in a real bath. So, when I went to change his diaper this morning and saw that it was gone, he went right in the bath tub. And of course Emma had to get in too. I never thought I'd be so excited about giving my kids a bath. He screamed at first but did really well after the initial shock. I love my clean little guy!


Here are a few more pictures of the kids together. Emma is such a good big sister. She loves to have Matthew sit in her doll stroller so she can push him around. It's the perfect size for now and it's just so cute.


This has become a tradition lately. Emma loves to have Matthew lay in bed with her while we sing songs at bedtime. Again, I think it's so cute.

More cuddle time. I thought it was funny how it looks like Matthew is giving her a hug. I think really he had just rolled into her.

I love having two kids. I love seeing Emma interact with Matthew. I can't wait till they're older and can really interact with each other.

What a Guy

I love my husband! He is so sweet and thoughtful and really goes out of his way to do things that he knows will make us happy. I have been so spoiled the last several days.

Last week he surprised me with this pillow. His grandma has one and I used it when we were at their house right after Emma was born. I have wanted one ever since. Anyway, he used his lunch break one day to find one because he remembered that it was something I had wanted. It has been great, especially for nursing. I don't slouch as much and it helps my back a ton.

Yesterday I found this toy shelf on Craigslist. I have REALLY wanted one for a long time. We have been using a big wicker chest and it was just a mess. So I found this and asked Jon if he could pick it up on his way home from work. I try not to send him to pick stuff up because after work he is tired and just wants to get home and it's not his favorite thing to do. But since he usually has the car and the places are between his work and our house, he usually gets stuck doing it. He agreed to do it even though it meant he also had to stop and get cash on his way. So he picked it up, but didn't stop there.

He also got some sand for Emma's sandbox. I was SO surprised because I didn't even know we had a sandbox. Jon's parents let us borrow it and brought it out on Saturday...I must have just missed the conversation where they told us that they put it on the back porch.

I can't tell you how excited I am to have this sandbox with sand in it. Our park has a huge sandbox...with a water spicket next to it. And the sandbox is Emma's new obsession. She won't play anywhere else when we go to the park. So we go and she gets covered from head to toe in mud. Then the stroller gets covered in her mud and I get covered in her mud. It has been frustrating. So this was like Christmas for me.

I had to post this picture because it was so funny. When I asked Emma what she was doing she said she was smelling the sand. Hmm....okay.
