Our Newest Addition

Here is the newest addition to our family. Two cute little goldfish, or as Emma calls them- wishies. We had talked about getting a couple fish for awhile and finally just went out and bought them. I don't know who was more excited about them...Jon or Emma. :) They really are fun little fish to watch and Emma loves to help feed them. This is where I draw the line on owning pets though, so hopefully the pet hunger has been satisfied.

Looking Forward to the Weekend

I am SO excited for this weekend. I am excited because it is a kid free, rest and relax weekend. Jon's parents gave us a night in a hotel for his graduation present and are keeping Emma for the weekend so we are very grateful and very excited for this little break. Thank you guys!!! I have been feeling so burned out lately...Emma was sick last week, I'm tired of being pregnant and feeling very uncomfortable, and I just haven't had a lot of motivation to do much lately. It's amazing how having something to look forward to can give you so much motivation. I've gotten ready every day this week, we've gone outside everyday, we even went to story time at the library. It has felt good. And now in a few hours I get to go drop Emma off and enjoy a weekend with just Jon. I'm especially looking forward to this because with the baby coming in a few weeks, I know this is probably the last alone time we'll have for a while.
So, I'm going to go check out now and get ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

A Little Bit of What We've Been Up To

Last week was pretty long and I felt like I just dragged myself through every day. Emma was sick most of the week so everything was thrown off. She wasn't sleeping and sick kids just make for a long day. I'm sure everyone understands. But it really made me appreciate the few times that she was feeling good and was happy. I can't really think of anything newsworthy from the last couple weeks though I'm sure something happened. So, here are some random pictures instead.

Emma loves to help with whatever I'm doing so putting the silverware away is her designated job. This was one of her first attempts but she has gotten a lot better since and will usually get most of the silverware in the right place facing the right way.

Emma and I decided to do a little exploring a couple weeks ago and try something new. Emma LOVES the trains here. We can see them from our house and she always stops everything she is doing to watch or listen to them. So, I decided it would be fun to ride the train to the mall and do a little shopping. It was all fun and games until she realized we were getting on the train and not just watching it. She really wasn't sure what to think but once we got going it was better. She loved watching the cars and houses out the window. It was a fun little trip.

I can't believe how long Emma's hair is getting. It usually doesn't look this long because it curls when it dries. I love her hair but sometimes I really just want to cut it. What to do???

While we enjoyed a really good general conference on Saturday, Emma enjoyed watching the Bee Movie, without sound. She usually won't watch movies or tv for more than a few minutes but she sat here for 1/2 hour. It was totally cute and it was great to be able to hear a few talks.

Stickers Anyone?

Emma loves stickers so when she realized that there was a whole sheet of them in our Easter egg decorating kit, she was so excited. She thinks it is so funny to put them all over her face and will usually leave them on all day. What a funny kid.

She was in a really silly mood and had been jumping up and down in this picture. I thought it turned out so funny.

A Father in Need of a Son

Jon is starting to have son anxieties! The other day Jon and Emma were just sitting on the couch looking at Jon's pocketknife. Afterwards we looked at the pictures and joked that the dialogue went like this:

Jon: Emma, I think you're old enough to learn how to use this now.
Emma: Oooohh, shiny!

Emma: Wow! Thanks daddy!

Jon: Anything for you sweety.
Emma: How do you open it?

Jon: Look, like this. The sharp parts are right there. Open it nice and slow...
Emma: Ooooh!

Emma: Wow, pliers to grab my dolls with! This is great dad!

Jon: I can't wait for your little brother to come...

How Much Do You Pay?

I was talking with my sister the other day and we got talking about gas prices. We thought it would be interesting to see what everybody else is paying as gas prices continue to rise.
This picture is at the gas station we usually go to. We go here because all the other ones nearby are MORE expensive. This was the price this morning, .01 cheaper than yesterday...WOOHOO!! So $3.74/gallon is what we usually pay although I have seen it as much as $4/gallon for regular unleaded. There are also a couple places I have seen it for $3.69...but that's the cheapest I've seen in a long time.

Happy Easter

We had a really good Easter weekend. Holidays are just so much more fun with kids. We started off Friday with an Easter egg hunt at Dreamworks and then had lunch with Jon. Emma loved the Easter bunny and wanted to follow him around the whole time. Once we showed her that the eggs had candy in them she forgot about the bunny and got into the egg thing a little, but then it was back to the bunny.
We met the bunny again on Saturday at our city's egg hunt. She was so fascinated with it. She's not smiling in any of the pictures because she was just staring at the bunny the whole time. She did get some candy and was excited about that. After the egg hunt we came home and did some major cleaning. We finally unpacked our LAST box. That is a great feeling. Our basement was really dusty and gross, so Jon got got it swept out really well and it's looking much better. We got a lot of stuff organized and got rid of a bunch of stuff. We were so tired at the end of the day but our house looks and feels so much better.
In between all the work we took Emma to another egg hunt. This one was at K-Mart. It's right up the road and she really needed to get out of the house so we figured you couldn't go to too many egg hunts. We went to the hunt and then Emma took a great nap when we got home.
Sunday was a lot of fun. Church was really good and it was just a beautiful day outside so we were just in a happy mood. Jon's family came for Easter dinner and it was a lot of fun to have them here. We had the traditional ham dinner. I made real mashed potatoes...yummy! and deviled eggs. I also made a carrot cake for dessert and Jon decorated it. It was a good dinner and was so fun to have family here and visit. It was a great day.

Emma found some chocolate but really just wanted to see what the bunny was up to.
We got her a sand pail and shovel as her Easter basket. Both parks we go to have huge sand boxes so now she has something to play with.

This was the 3rd hunt so by this time Emma knew there was candy in the eggs. She had to stop and have a snack. (And while I know this isn't the most flattering picture of me, this is me at 32 weeks. I feel huge!)

This was the bunny at Dreamworks. She was so cute with it.

Coloring eggs...we won't be doing this again for a few years. :)

This is Emma's Easter dress. I wish we could have gotten a better picture but she didn't want to take her sweater off.
