There hasn't been much going on here lately...just the usual day to day stuff. We spent the last week in Boise with Jon's family and had fun seeing them. We also visited my grandma Hiatt while we were there. Jon is keeping busy at work. I am keeping busy with Emma. She has SO much personality and is really starting to test boundaries. She is starting to do that thing where she's doing something she knows she's not supposed to and as soon as I say her name and start coming toward her she starts to do it faster and then at the last possible second runs away. Jon and I used to laugh when little kids do that. Okay, so we still do. And it is kind of funny to see her do it. It's just hard to believe she's not a little baby anymore. She is doing so many things and you can tell that she's soaking everything up, trying to learn everything. She loves talking and will talk to everybody and anybody she sees. She especially loves when Dad comes home every day. We wait for him outside and as soon as she sees the car pull up she starts yelling Hi Dad! Dada! and lots of other uncomprehendable things.
Here is our budding artist drawing with dad on the porch. We really have to watch her with the sidewalk chalk because she likes to bite chunks off and eat them like candy. Yuck!

A Little Update

Happy Birthday Emma
Emma turns 1 tomorrow so we had a little party yesterday for her. We just had Jon's family and one of his good friends over for cake, ice cream and swimming. Emma had no idea what was going on and was probably a little overwhelmed but it was fun for the rest of us. I will try to add some more pictures. Jon's mom got some really cute ones.
We are going to Boise for the 4th of July week for Jon's family reunion. I will drive up with his family on Tuesday and he will fly up on Friday after work. There are lots of cousins and lots of things to do so it should be fun. I'm also going to be able to see some of my family while we're there too.
Jon finished his training at Pixar and has gotten his assignment for the rest of the summer. He is working on a movie called Wall-E. It's a movie about a robot and that's about all I know. It comes out next summer so if you go to see it watch for his name in the credits! He is having a lot of fun there. They encourage them to be creative and decorate their offices so he has been finding all sorts of random stuff to make it look cool. We'll have to get some pictures soon.

Stuff
I feel like it's been such a busy month but then I can't remember anything we've done! We have really enjoyed these last few weeks that Jon hasn't had work or school and have been able to spend so much time together. If only life could always be like that. Jon started his internship with Pixar yesterday. It sounds like it will be a great experience. He is so excited. He will spend this week in training and then get his assignment. They will put him to work on one of their movies. Wow! That would be intimidating to me. But he'll do great. They are a great company to work for...very fun and laid back. One of Jon's friends that works there gave us a tour last week. There were people riding razor scooters all over and several cereal bars throughout the studio. There is also a swimming pool, basketball court, soccer field, gym, running trail, and other things for the employees to use if they need a break during the day. So cool! We get to see Ratatouille at the Pixar theater this weekend. They gave Jon 5 tickets and his friend gave him a couple more so Jon's family can come with us. It should be so fun. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Jon's parents let Emma borrow this playhouse. She LOVES it. The phone and doorbell make noise so she thinks that's pretty great.
Emma has cut 3 teeth in the last 3 weeks. She got her top teeth first and then cut a bottom. She has done pretty well with it. She is such a happy, social baby. We are excited for her birthday in a couple weeks. Anyone have any fun party ideas?

We had been in a heatwave all last week and the temperature was over 100 degrees every day. So, we planned a trip to the beach on Saturday. But of course that was the one day that it was 50 degrees. Me and Jon's family sat on the beach huddled in blankets but Jon wasn't going to let a little cold weather stop him. He jumped right in to look for sea shells and managed to find several sand dollars. He was excited.

Pictures
Our car was PACKED going to California. We put stuff in every single little space we could and somehow managed to fit it all and get Emma in the car too.
This is the reason dads should not get kids dressed!

Emma somehow managed to grab the yogurt while I turned around for 5 seconds. She looked so guilty.

California Fun
It's hard to believe we've been in California for almost 2 weeks! We have had a lot going on and have been having so much fun. We drove through the night and got here at 3 in the morning. Jon drove the whole way and let me sleep a lot of the way so I was very grateful for that. We got a few hours of sleep when we got here, unpacked our car, and then went camping for the weekend with Jon's family. This was our first camping trip as a family and it was a lot of fun. Emma chased the birds and squirrels and had a blast. She was one dirty baby by the time we got home.

We spent last week getting unpacked and getting settled in. We have been so blessed and have been able to furnish our whole apartment for free...I love Craigslist! It looks so nice and finally feels like home. Jon's brother got married on Saturday so we were glad that we could help with some of the wedding stuff. It was also nice to see some extended family.
Emma cut her first tooth on Friday! In true Emma fashion she had to do things differently and cut a top tooth first. So yeah, she just has one tooth on the top. But it's a start. She is so fun. She talks ALL the time and is a very social baby. She has loved having her grandma, grandpa, and aunts close and they do a good job spoiling her. We love our apartment. The grounds are so pretty. There are lots of flowers, ponds (complete with ducks), and water falls. Emma loves chasing the ducks around and touching all the flowers. She has mastered walking and goes everywhere. We really have to watch her now. She has also decided that it's time to start crawling and is so close.
Jon starts at Pixar on the 18th. We are so excited. He is feeling a little overwhelmed...I don't blame him. It will be a good experience though.
Sorry for the novel. We just got the internet hooked up. You don't realize how much you need it until you go a week without it. :) I have felt so disconnected from everybody and everything. So, it's nice to have again.

Moving Day
We leave for California tonight so I thought I'd post a few more pictures before we go. We are going to miss our friends and neighbors this summer but are so excited to be able to spend the summer in California.
These are a few pictures from our ward pool party last weekend. It was so fun. Emma LOVES the water and her new pool toy. Jon and I were in a pie eating contest. The wives had to sit behind our husbands and feed them the pie. We won! The prize was a pie-the same kind that they had to eat. By the time Jon had eaten the one, we knew we'd never be able to eat the second one so we took it to my aunt's house for dessert the next day.

Moving
It's been awhile since I've posted on here so I thought I'd update everyone. Most of you know we are moving to California for Jon's internship. We leave in 2 weeks. It's coming so fast but at the same time it's so hard to wait. We have started packing and have gotten to the point where we can't pack anything else until we leave. So, we're trying to keep busy with other things. Jon has been working on the senior film and is preparing himself for his internship. Emma and I spend a lot of time at the playground. It's so nice living in Wymount with so many other young families. There are always lots of other kids to play with. Emma LOVES watching the older kids and will follow them around as long as we're out there. She has mastered walking in the house but is still getting up the courage to walk alone outside. We took Emma swimming for the first time today. She loved kicking the water and watching the other kids. We love summer!
We are excited for this summer and look forward to seeing those of you who are in California. We will miss all of you in Utah and hope to keep in touch with all of you.
